Sprinkled throughout the USA are night clubs focused on magic. California Magic Dinner Yheatre is one I can think of at the top of my head, although its focus is small stage magic. There are many others in various cities. I think Japan has a great concept! Thank you for sharing David!
The first was an old wizard at a Ren Fair. He was done for the day, and packing up. He kindly showed me a trick with ropes before he left. I later figured out that it was the professor's nightmare, and I learned how to do it, but I was thrilled by it when he showed it to me!
The second was a walk around magician at the first Alien Days festival in McMinnville, Oregon (which coincidentally is going on right now). He was very slick, and did an ambitious card routine that fooled the pants off me.
Actually, the first person to do magic for me was my grandfather, but I don't think he ever went pro! He sat in his comfy chair doing tricks in the living room while my grandmother heckled him from the kitchen. "He's blowing on the pencil to make it move!"
The capsule hotels, I didn't see any, although I wasn't looking out for them while I was over there.
Nah, barely any robots at all over there. They're more a gimmick than anything else, there's soooo many more people everywhere there it can feel overwhelming at times.
So the first Terminator won't come from Tokyo.....
Japan's a unique culture that I still have books about. I remember back when TBS was WTBS & in addition to vintage US programming, old Ted seemingly bought a TON of anime. Interesting days.....
I hate to use the phrase " bucket list ", but Japan is somewhere on it.....
I preferred Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Princess Mononoke, some anime kind of pushes the envelope, especially showing girls whose parents can purchase dye - jobs & crazily large implants.
I wish that I could hear Donna Burke sing Real Folk Blues live..... on the small desert island that our private jet had to crash on & live like Gilligan & Mary Ann..... 😵💫😀
Of course, if she's married, that gets taken off of the trading table. I'm a tad old - fashioned.

The US would be so interesting to explore the magic scene, amongst all the touristy stuff too!
Thanks for commenting!
I live in Oregon, and have only ever seen two magicians in real life.
It's not surprising that most people haven't seen many (or any) magicians in real life!
The default question magicians ask is always "How were they?"

Those are great experiences! I remember seeing ambitious card and professor's nightmare for the first time, your brain just short circuits!
Ah spouses, always there to heckle lol
I've always been interested in trying one of those coffin - sized " hotel rooms " that I've heard / read about.....
Do they have more robots than people or is that just weird BS ?

You should definitely visit if you get the chance. They're a lot more english friendly so ordering food and getting around isn't too hard.
Ah anime, my first introduction to Japan and what got me interested in it's weird and wacky culture!

Loved Cowboy Bebop, and still listen to its soundtrack from time to time even now!
