Another excellent essay David, it’s much appreciated.

Unfortunately most magic can not be patented. Only unique routines can be copywrited. And even then there is quite a bit of leeway for another hour is to copy a similar design. So from the stand point of legality most magic is legal to expose. There’s nothing new under tge sun. This of course does not mean I advocate exposing magic on social media or you tube. I’m saying there’s not much legal action one can take.

That's right, it's a losing battle ultimately, but we can only do our part in educating and doing what's right ourselves!

Fortunately much of the magic community respects each other and asks before using routines etc. I think that’s really nice.
